isle of tune

Isle of Tune is an addictive Sim City-style synthesizer. You can build city layouts, whereby each house, tree or lampost represents a note, which is then played by a passing car. It's a lot of fun. Go and play it now and say goodbye to a productive day!

friday song

Why can't I just listen to a song once and leave it alone? I have been playing this on repeat this week! Now you too must suffer my Bowie obsession. Bwa ha haaaa...

I've been sucked into yet another blogging platform! The Only Bee is my music blog on Tumblr - I am allowed to post one MP3 a day which makes it ideal for logging my daily melodic choice, like an audio diary of sorts. Check it out and enjoy.

spotify

I just received an invite to Spotify - Spotify is a music programme which allows you to stream and listen to music through your computer. The company that developed it has made contracts with loads of record labels which means you can listen to a huge number of songs with a high sound quality. Hooray! I'm already a fan of Blip.fm so I'm looking forward to trying Spotify out.

If you have Spotify already, let me know if this link works here - if it does, you should be listening to 'Queen Bitch' by David Bowie!

more cowbell

Morecowbell.dj is a very silly website where you can upload songs and add a) more cowbell and b) more Christopher Walken to them. Someone uploaded 'Black Mirror' by Arcade Fire - hear the cowbell remix!

(For those who don't know, "More cowbell" is an American pop culture catch phrase originally derived from a Saturday Night Live comedy sketch in 2000 about the recording of the song "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" by Blue Öyster Cult. The sketch featured guest host Christopher Walken as music producer Bruce Dickinson and Will Ferrell as fictional cowbell player Gene Frenkle.)

blip.fm

Having given up on Pandora and not being overly enthusiastic about last.fm, I have turned to a new source of musical happiness on the internet - blip.fm.

Media_http2bpblogspotcompbngso7fsgsklo8suv3viaaaaaaaaad8yyrmykqdve8s400blipfmpng_xldeidjftfclalj

You are able to upload songs as a 'DJ' once you sign up, as well as being able to 'blip' songs which other DJs have uploaded.

I've started adding songs at here, with hopefully many more to come soon.

wired to pandora?

I began enjoying Pandora late last year, a delightful website which makes recommendations of music you may like based on your existing tastes. It was especially great if you wanted to intersperse bluegrass with death metal. Who doesn't occasionally?

However, it was cruelly taken away from me, and everyone outside of the USA, as a result of U.S. and international copyright laws and restrictions. Bah humbug.

However! Wired have some useful suggestions here on how to access Pandora from anywhere in the world. It looks like quite a bit of effort and involves proxy servers, a solution which had crossed my mind. Hmmm. Still...worth a go? Or...I might carry on listening to MP3s and hope that Pandora is soon opened back up to international listerners. Here's hoping!
